What’s New at Drawer AI: Specs AI, NECA 2026, Gaylor Electric & More

It’s been a busy month at Drawer AI.

We’ve launched Specs AI, a new way for electrical estimators and project teams to work through project specifications. We’re also heading to NECA in Las Vegas, celebrating Gaylor Electric’s #21 ranking on EC&M’s 2026 Top 50 Electrical Contractors list, and catching up after our BIM Wizard team’s strategy gathering in Portugal. Here’s what’s new.

New Feature: Meet Specs AI

Project specifications contain critical information that can affect an estimate, but finding the right details across hundreds of pages can take time.

Specs AI is an AI-powered specification assistant built directly into Drawer AI. It helps electrical estimators and project teams extract, summarize, organize, and verify important requirements from project specifications without manually searching through dense PDF documents.

The idea behind it is simple:

AI helps surface the information; your team verifies it.

Find the requirements that matter

Specs AI organizes key requirements into topics such as Scope of Work, Project Summary, Communications, and Fire Alarm, covering CSI Divisions 01, 02, 26, 27, and 28.

You can use it to surface requirements including:

• Exclusions and allowances
• Alternates
• Open or TBD items
• Coordination notes
• Owner-furnished vs. contractor-installed equipment
• Design-build responsibilities

You can ask an individual question when you need to check something specific, run every question within a topic, or select Ask all questions for a broader view of the project scope.

Check every answer against the original specs

Specs AI provides source citations with every answer.

Select the numbered references below an answer and the built-in Source Viewer takes you to the relevant pages and passages in the original specification.

That means the AI can help you find the information, while your team can verify the source before using it in a bid or project handoff.

Manage multiple spec documents

You can upload and manage project spec books directly from the Sources panel.

Specs AI supports PDF documents, with up to 1 GB per project, so project specifications can be managed and reviewed from the same workflow.

Export what you find

Once you’ve reviewed the information, you can copy an answer directly to your clipboard or export the results to Excel or PDF.

You can export a single answer, an entire topic, or the complete Q&A, making it easier to move requirements into bids, proposals, estimating spreadsheets, and project handoffs.

How to get started with Specs AI

Open Specs AI from the project sidebar or press Shift + Q.

Upload your specification PDFs, then choose whether you want to answer a specific question, run an entire topic, or select Ask all questions. From there, review the answers, follow the source citations to verify the information, and copy or export what you need.

Across the list, contractors reported $80.4 billion in combined 2025 revenue, with data center work continuing to drive significant activity.

BIM Wizard Team Meets in Portugal

Not every Drawer AI update happened behind a screen this month.

Our BIM Wizard team recently gathered in Portugal to share ideas, plan what’s next, and spend some time together away from their desks. There was strategy, hiking, surfing, and a little time on the beach along the way.
